Unit Rep Responsibilities
As a Unit Rep, you are responsible for bringing the news of your unit to share with VCE-MGs throughout the state through the VMGA network. The Unit Rep is also responsible for taking news and information back to your unit. To carry out these duties, the Unit Report and unit contact information need to be prepared.
The Unit Report
Please come to the regularly-scheduled VMGA Board meeting prepared to share with us the news of your unit’s major programs and projects. It will have to be very brief - 2 to 3 minutes total. If your unit has a lot of activities, select the top two or three news stories, things that have occurred since the last Board meeting.
The updates will be helpful information to the other Unit Reps in attendance as each unit seeks to improve their programs and projects. The information may also be used in the "News From Across the State," a feature of the VMGA Report.
Always include in your Unit Report:
- Your Name and the Unit you represent (County(ies) and/or incorporated city(ies) in your unit)
- Name of the local association(s) in your unit
- The program or project about which you are reporting news. News may include what was accomplished, what kind of impact was realized. Any information about how you got the media’s attention, how you promoted the event, the numbers of the public attending, how the event was funded is information that will help other VCE-MG units with similar programs or projects.
Unit Contact Information
Please report Unit Contact Information to the President. Unit Contact Information is useful to VMGA for sending out education event notices, nomination forms for the Education Endowment Fund scholarships to MG College, the MG College promotional CD, etc.
The Unit Contact Information we’d like to have is not extensive, but usually takes some attention to keep it updated:
- Name of agent or locally paid person responsible for your unit’s VCE-MG volunteers, their email and/or phone and mailing address
- Name of association president (if none, name of coordinator) with email and/or phone of this person
- Does your local unit or association have a web site? Please give the name and email of the webmaster.
Please, if you can’t come to a meeting, send your report with someone else. You are welcome to mail or phone it to the VMGA President, preferably one week before the meeting. If you’ve got any questions, please feel free to contact me by clicking here. Thanks!
