June 23 - 26, 2011. At Virginia Tech. This year features Advanced Master gardener Land Care Steward training! The Stewardship training will begin PROMPTLY at 9:00 AM on Wednesday the 22nd. A special activity on Thursday afternoon will take the place of a tour for those in this class. More information including the classes and training schedule will be posted soon.

Some updates concerning MG College:

Marketing and Media Relations Successes - Master Gardener College - Next week, I will be conducting a session at the Master Gardener College on “Creating a 'Buzz' and Making News.” I’d like to share some of your local successes in the area of marketing and media relations. If you have some tips or examples of materials or strategies that you have been successful with that you are willing to share, please e-mail them to me at lgreiner@vt.edu. I’d like to highlight your efforts during my presentation. Please include a brief description of the activity and/or strategy and how it was effective. Also if you are having particular challenges with marketing and communications, please share those with me as well. Hopefully, I can provide some suggestions during my presentation. I’ll send you a link to my presentation after the college is over. Lori Greiner

The regular bi-monthly meeting will be a very short meeting on June 24th at 5PM in a meeting room to be announced at College in Torgersen Hall.

Annual Meeting - June 25th, 7:00 p.m., Torgersen Auditorium

SFE Poster/Brag Boards (Christy Brennan): Set up in Torgersen by 5:00 on Thursday. Judging will take place between 5:00 and 6:00. Take-down on Friday between 5:00 and 6:00. Silent Auction items needed. All money raised from the Auction goes to the MG State Coordinator Endowment. Contact Betty Villers, bettyv@cox.net or 757-481-6398 (h), 757-724-0616 (c), if you have items to donate. Bring to the Registration Tent when you arrive on Thursday, to Torgersen Hall Thursday night before the awards ceremony or Friday morning before the sessions start. Betty also needs help Friday setting up, contact her if you can help. Click here to read more.

Plant Swap - If you want to participate in the Plant Swap (bring one-take one) on Sunday after the last speaker, an area is being set aside for you to drop off your plants when you check in at the Registration Tent. The area should be well marked. On Sunday you can select from the designated Swap Table. Make sure your plants are looking good and don’t bring the usual, bring something special and unusual.
