As Garden Week in Virginia winds down it is time to treat yourself to an exciting program that will let you discover the secrets of garden design from one of the most respected designers working today.

Phillip Watson, current garden host on QVC, will give an illustrated talk, “Pleasure Gardens: From Cottages to Castles”, that will include numerous shots of Fredericksburg gardens as well as some of his estate work in Greenwich, Connecticut. Many of these will be featured in an upcoming book of the same title which is projected for release in late 2008.

Following his presentation, Mr. Watson will demonstrate his skill in creating containers using unique and exciting plant material that will “wow” you all season long. Audience questions are encouraged during this informal session. The finished products will be given away to one or more of our guests.

Light refreshments and local wine will be served, and to wrap up the afternoon you may visit the restored Belmont gardens, enjoy Gari Melchers’ studio or find delightful gifts in the museum shop.
